Some of you are so impatient! I mean, sure, I promised Thrifty Goodness would be open by the end of February. And, sure, it’s now the first of March. I think it’s been established that I’m prone to exaggeration.
Rest assured, Dear Readers (Heather!) I’m working on it. I spent the greater part of this morning photographing my inventory. Ok, that sounds a wee bit pretentious. Ahem, let me try again. I spent the greater part of this morning snapping photos of my thrifting stash. Ah, better! And let me tell you, talk about hard work photographing in the Oregon gray we like to call sunlight. Hopefully, most of the photos aren’t too washed out! I wish everything photographed as well as Marcia up there… she is just so photogenic, it hurts. Marcia is a supermodel in the thrifting world: we all wish we were Marcia, the trivet.
So, the first installment for the store is now uploaded to iphoto and I intend to write out descriptions of everything this weekend. I’m not sure exactly when the store will open, but it’s looking like it will be in the next week or so. My intention is to open on my own site (www.thriftygoodness.com) and eventually build a companion store on etsy. Or, that’s the plan today! Specifics for the store change as quickly as our weather out here on the coast. One moment it’s sunlight the next it’s hail. I’m learning to go with the flow.
As for wares: Thrifty Goodness will mostly stock vintage items and vintage inspired pieces handcrafted from thrifted fabric, with a dash of “you can’t miss this!” newer pieces thrown in for spice. It’s been such an adventure collecting items for my tiny store and I can’t wait to share it all with you. So, keep your eyes on the right hand corner of this blog, darlings.
I promise… soon!
Marcia is gorgeous–what a rich color! I will look forward to looking around in your “store.” (and lamenting my lack of craftiness and creativity) So, you got hail too? And snow? And sunshine? The pattern repeated itself about 3 or 4 times yesterday. It was wacky!

Yeah, we got the same wacky weather. I can’t fathom how you teach in that! ~W
Good luck to you on your grand opening. Lots of work, but well worth it 🙂 Can’t wait to go shopping!

Thank you. . . it is a lot of work, as you well know! ~W
I’m so glad your store will be going “live” soon. I’m grateful you’ll be my guinea pig. I’m excited because I’ve seen some of the pics and can’t wait for the stories that go along with them…

I just want to get it opened! I’m a little overwhelmed with everything I’ve bitten off… so like me! ~W
wow i love the pattern…

Thank you, me too! I wish I knew exactly how to make these, I’d make some more for me! ~W
I know that I can’t wait, either! I really wanna see all of the goodies…you know, it’s kind of like having a Personal Shopper…you go out and shop and weed through all of the yucky stuff, then you present me (well, ok, the entire internet universe) with all the great finds! I can just sit here with my cup of hot chocolate and shop at my leisure. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Gee… I hope you guys aren’t all disappointed. Now I’m going to worry. If you will send me an email with the kinds of things you’re looking for, I’m happy to keep my eyes out for you! ~W
::grumblegrumble:: 😉

Lots of cool stuff is happening in your life! The store sounds so fun. Love the trivet. I own one very similar in red and white–very tiny stitches that go forever.

I wish I knew how to make these things, because I’m loving Marcia. S i g h. And yeah, good stuff is happening!! It takes time. . . but it’s been so worth the wait! ~W
One of the very first things Mark told me about you was your uncanny ability to find the coolest things in thrift stores and whatnot. I doubt your store will disappoint anyone! And am I an idiot for having to Google ‘trivet’? I mean, I know it came with a picture and all, but I just thought it was a cool orange… thing. Had no idea it had a name and a purpose! Well, all of it is cool, and good luck with Thrifty Goodness!

Oh! I mourn the loss of my Vintage wardrobe. I had a ton of fun stuff that I got rid of when I moved to Central PA. I was, foolishly, trying to “fit in” and my artsy-fartsy wardrobe really wasn’t working. Anyhow, I gifted it all to a niece who could have cared less. S i g h. This is probably why I spend so much time in pursuit thrift finds… it’s like finding that lost 20 you put away for a rainy day and the forgot! Only better! 😀 ~W
I’ve got grand opening fever! Will there be wine? Chocolate? 5 cents off our total purchase if we use our own bags?
Doin’ the happy dance from a sitting position! Ok, not really doin’ a dance. But I am happy, and when I’m 100% again – I will dance!
