count me in! i love snail mail and i love to send it too...i just don't very often but i should and you've inspired me (again) :-)

i love the smell of CA citrus...i grew up with an orange tree in the backyard...sleeping with the windows open and the smell of the blossoms heavy in the air and then, when ripened, one Christmas tradition was fresh-squeezed orange juice, still cold from the tree, for breakfast with swedish rolls...naked juice never tasted so good!

I *LOVE* your photo! What kills me about your blog isn't just the writing -it is that each picture is unique and original to you. I think that picture could be a postcard... which in turn could be part of the Year of the Snail (mail)...

Ahhh! I LOVE this Wende...I was just thinking about sending a "real" letter to someone in my life, and got so very excited about the thought! Getting a real letter and sending more out would be a dream! And very big congrats on your lemons...I have quite a few family members that live and work up North in CA...and they send a lot of good fruit (including Meyer lemons this year) in big boxes throughout the year...as gifts for us here. The boxes are always very welcome...

I want to write letters this year too. send care packages.. All that.
I decided just sending random presents is easier than doing "swaps" and really just as fun or more fun, because of the spontaneity and complete lack of expectation.

and tricia: lemon curd for tarts and pies. Candied lemon peel and freezing the juice in ice cube trays so you always have pre squeezed juice, all year.

i need a lemon tree.

I'm the Queen of Thought Mail! Wish I knew an easy way to move myself along from thought to action more often.

You deserve every drop of lemony sunshine! Sometimes, when you need to be watching pennies, you also need to spend a few of them on a luxury, just to remind you what it's all about... (and I know how you feel about Anthropologie.... Sigh.)

Your snail mail idea is beyond wonderful. I don't know many people that have a box of precious emails tied with a lavender ribbon tucked away with the ephemera of their lives, do you? :-)

I have a meyer lemon tree in my back yard, loaded with lemons. I've started a big batch of limoncello, and am now trying to figure out what else to do with them. What do you make with yours?
