Oh, So That’s Why

Apparently, IZ had the conversation with our 11 year old about female reproduction today. We decided years ago that the parent who “matches” the kid gets to have that particular discussion.

Yeah, so IZ explained PMS and Boy Wonder concluded,

“Oh, so that’s why Mom  gets crabby with you and yells at you sometimes.”

“Yes, but sometimes I deserve it.” IZ replied.

Yeah buddy, sometimes YOU do deserve it.

Yes, Sometimes they deserve it. And sometimes I deserve hot cocoa. Even when it’s 80° outside.

Oh great, another thing to add to the list of things I’m not looking forward to. I bet IZ did a great job explaining things, though!

You know, I don’t have a girl, so I can’t say. But I’d still bank on the idea that boys have got to be easier on this. It won’t be that bad! ~W

When my oldest daughter was in 6th grade, she had a terrible time with a few boys in her class saying and drawing inappropriate things in terms of girls and girls’ body parts, etc etc. She came home and said, “We’re gonna raise our boys better than that, right?” And I promised that we would. There are enough dingbat preteen boys out there in the world, it’s good to get at least a few of them straightened out and teach them about women and how to show some respect. So…tell your husband way to go. :)

Completely! I know a lot of boys do stupid things on this subject because it’s embarrassing and they don’t know to deal with all this information. Which, just goes to show, that you can’t only tell them the “facts” but you need to help them interpret what that means for them. Boys related differently than girls… and this is one subject where learning how to think and feel and respond in a way a girl likes can’t HURT you. ~W

Well, mostly my husband deserves it too–but my reaction is a BIT exaggerated if I’m feeling emotional.

Well…we certainly don’t want to run around and be overly crabby do we? But, whoa boy…those certain times, look out…

Yeah, it happens. I find tho, that I don’t have to have PMS to be crabby. I just need to be deprived of COFFEE. ~W

  9. IZ Says:

I have a killer way to make hot chocolate… Wende can tell you whether or not it is PMS worthy… but I think it is good…

You know, your hot chocolate is to DIE FOR. Why don’t you do a guest post for me?? I’ll take pictures and you explain the recipe. :D ~W

Awesome. Quite important that the boy understand PMS… the other stuff is probably irrelevant right now anyway. But he’ll navigate through life much better if he gets the PMS thing now.

Seriously! I’m very appreciative that IZ did so… and while I didn’t hear the conversation, I know he didn’t do it in a rude or derogatory way toward women. You know? It’s a good thing. ~W
