Saturday Post
It’s my birthday, so… you’re getting a Saturday post. A picture post no less. After the jump are lots of photos of little celebrations. . . or at least the ones I remembered to photograph!
Yeah, leave it to me to host my own birthday party. (Martha, LOOK AWAY!) Ahem. It was actually craft night to celebrate my new sewing machine—but the proximity of my birthday, well… things just got out of hand! It helps to have really lovely friends who spoil you. I hold them responsible. Sure, I made cake and handed out non-birthday party favors, but… they brought presents!
And what lovely presents. The yummy fabric and thread and darling Pinocchio tape measurer is from the ever thoughtful Monica. Who seemed worried I might not like the Moda fabric. HELLO??? Anyhow, I have NO ideas what I will do with it yet, since beautiful fabric tends to give me the crafter’s version of writer’s block. But, give me time!
You sensing a theme yet with all these colors? This beautiful apron was made by Paula—not only is it made of the most perfect fabric but it’s edged in ric-rac. Have I told you how I feel about ric-rack? Uh-huh. LOVE!
The night was rounded out by the presence of Ms. Kathleen (you’ve already seen the pendant she gave me) who made the evening complete. We actually got to crafting last night! Ok, they did. I brought out my great-grandmother’s quilt to rip stitches only to be talked out of my foolhardiness by Monica. See… this is why I adore these women: they all appreciate the benefits of a bottle of wine, chocolate, and laughter PLUS, they give really good suggestions and advice. I’m learning so much!!
Are you sick of me yet?? NO? Oh, goodie, because I have lots more pictures to share. Today is my official birthday and I’m promising not to milk this much further. However, this afternoon I was presented with brunch and presents from my boys, an act of beauty that really does bear mention. I know I’ve already been spoiled beyond imagination—so this was a surprise.
IZ made lovely orange pancakes and bacon. I couldn’t help but snap a photo! I’m ashamed to say that I gulped down my Americano before any photos could be taken. It was good! You’d gulp too!
Apparently, my photo frenzy has not gone without notice:
Boy Wonder: Mom, you’re obsessed with taking photos!
Me: Nuh-uh!
Boy Wonder: Oh yes you are! You’re taking pictures of your food!
Me: SO?
Boy Wonder: You’re obsessed… admit it!
I can hear you laughing. And I know all these photos point to my kid being correct. But I’d like to suggest that there is a difference between being obsessed with taking photos and being obsessed with photographing things to put on your blog. Speaking of obsession. . . did you think I’d post this many photos and not give you a kid shot?
And while I’m at it. . . a photo of his card:
Please notice that the cake on my card has no candles on it. As it SHOULD be, people. It’s a crime to risk burning down your house with that many candles. And you think I’m exaggerating, which, I’m prone to do. But even I’m not willing to chance this.
But, I’m holding out on you. I am, I am. If you’ve read this far, I give you this…
This bookmark was made by the 10 year old on Ol’ Rusty. And I have to tell you I cherish it beyond words. It doesn’t hurt that it sums up my feelings about all of you who have made this week so amazing. You all are truly wonderful and I’m blessed beyond measure to have each of you in my life! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

You tell Mr. Rusty that you are taking the photos for US because we want to see inside your life! I love the goodies, and the bookmark is especially wonderful. I have received many of them over the years, and I love every one of them.

That’s a bookmark for the ages-I can picture you with that tucked in your book du jour decades from now. What a lovely birthday (week) you’ve had. Happy, Happy indeed.
I have that same tape measure for my knitting- I love it! It makes a little clicking sound when I pull it out.
Best wishes for happy days this next year and many more birthdays surrounded by love, Wende.

Happy, happy, happy birthday! Belated a little… but happy none the less!
The other night was a blast! Great hostess, great friends and great laughs! Boy Wonder’s creations were the icing on the cake (and your cake and party favors were the BOMB!).
Hahaha… funny Pam should mention wanting to live in our hood. We have just the house for her, don’t we!

Oh, it would be fun to have Pam in our neighborhood. Although, I have fantasies of buying that house. I’d love to make it into an artist/guest retreat. It would make a cool Church of Craft location!
