Regular readers will have noticed the lack of updating and response to questions on this blog. All I can say is that I’m pooped! As I pointed out earlier in the week, this is hell week as I approach tomorrow’s ad running for Thrifty Goodness. I did manage to get everything photographed for the store. Perhaps not as well as I would like, but… it’s done. We will rejoice in small favors.
As well, I’m nearly done making way for a delivery today. But not quite. A huge piece of furniture is on the way and that meant I had to take a SERIOUS look at my working space, which remains nameless. I still don’t know what to call it. Studio? Office? Sewing Room? Sanctuary??
Anyhow, I started to photograph just what a disaster it was and still is, but I just can’t do it. . . . pride is funny thing. But mortification is quite another. While I might be a bit shamed to show ye internets my disasterpiece, what really haunts me is the idea of seeing that photo on my blog every time I log on. Frankly, I use this blog as a way to hide from all that mess upstairs, I certainly don’t want a visual reminder of what I really should be doing! I’d never get a post done, then.
So, this afternoon this mammoth piece of furniture will arrive and then we will see if we can actually get it up the stairs! This little bit of logistics worries me, but there is no time for that presently, since I’m almost done making space, but not quite.
It’s always “not quite” around here. Which leads me back to the posting and the comments. I want to say a very BIG thank you to y’all for your suggestions regarding footwear! You all rock! Astoria is devoid of real shoe options. The one store in town that might fix me up, I’ve yet to visit… you know, I’ve “not quite” managed to get there this week. But first thing next, I’m headed there to buy at least a pair that can hold me over until our next trip into the big city!
As well, thank you all for your well wishes to the boy about his yellow stripe. I think that’s the post where I basically lost track of responding and I’ll start there to catch up. In the meantime, this universal, “Awww, thanks!” is going to have to do.
Tomorrow will bring a Sunday Sermonรย I’m taking the weekend off due to a small head cold, but next week this blog should be back on track. Until then, blessings to each of you.
This seems like a good opportunity to set up a flickr group (or the like) for messy work spaces. I know many crafters are in the same boat – our little craft sanctuary gets so crowded with projects, mail, new goodies, random bits of here and there that it soon just becomes a giant disaster. And then the shuffling and moving piles begins.
My husband calls my room the vortex. He’s terrified to lay anything down in there for fear it will get sucked in. The rest of the house stays tidy – all things we don’t know what to do with/ can’t address right away go to the vortex. The door stays shut. We just cleared out a closet and installed new shelves just for him. I get a room, he gets a closet. ๐
Perhaps we can all gain strength and support by airing out our dirty little craft room secrets together. And maybe, just maybe, we will get the momentum to clean them up!

Heh… YOU FIRST! ๐ ~W
You’re on – I’m so doing this. Don’t forget to save all your before pics!

Oh, sure, call my bluff. I’m headed upstairs to photograph my space now. Let me know the flickr details and I’ll promote this on the blog. ๐ ~W
I just told my husband about this and he said I could probably one up anyone. I’m not sure if this is a compliment or a gentle nudging to get busy! I’m thinking the latter.

Oh, well… show him the photos I just sent you. Ahem. He and IZ can commiserate together! ๐ ~W
I call my little space the Sweat Shop for many obvious and less obvious reasons. My sewing room is a 9′ x 9′ room and I kind of HAVE to be reasonably organized or I can’t move. That’s not to say, though, that I don’t do my fair share of piling up stuff that will eventually need to be put away somewhere! Now my garage . . . well, that’s another story. Thank goodness there’s a door between it and the rest of the house, and I can just pretend it doesn’t hardly exist most of the time! LOL!

Oh, small spaces either do you in or inspire you to be organized. I fall in the former group, typically. ๐ ~W
Just spent the last hour decluttering my studio.
It’s a constant battle to keep organized and tidy! You are so not alone!
Good luck getting your furniture upstairs!
That’s a constant problem for us too. Can’t wait to see it though!
I hope the ad brings lots of new customers to Thrifty Goodness!

I’m hoping it just brings SOME sales to Thrifty Goodness. ๐ ~W
I wish you endless luck with the new piece of furniture. And I always smile when you refer to Astoria – for a second or two I think of you being just around the block. If you were, I’d help you with your furniture addition and with tidying up that unnamed room! Have a great rest of the weekend.

Rumor has it, you’re going to be right around the corner shortly! I’m so excited. ๐ ~W
Call it a sanctuary as you rejoice in small favors and describe life as always being รขโฌลnot quite” and you’ll have your Sunday sermon while feeding two birds with one scone.
I finished my training and lived to tell the tale!

Congratulations, Babette. ๐ Your words worked far better than any photo I had! ~W
I am excited to see it when it’s “all done” yeah…studios seem to be works in progress! Enjoy the weekend off, I should have done the same…it’s been mighty draining one for me…although, I did get out and do some wicked moon shots this weekend too!

You and me both! It’s going to be awhile, sadly. We ran into some problems… ack! ~W
I so sympathise with you. For me, any amount of creative activity seems to involve making one heckuva mess ๐ The friends who helped us move this weekend started making jokes about the amount of yarn and fabric I had…to tell the truth, I was shocked myself, since I had never seen it consolidated in one place before. Usually it’s squirreled away all over the house, lol!
Anyway, good luck with moving the furniture. I hope you feel better too!

Thanks, Amy. I think it’s actually allergies and I’m responding rather well to Claritin and I’m not getting worse. Whew! ~W
P.S. those are stunning photos!
