Happy Solstice! I will be going to work, I don’t know how fun that is, but I’m sure I’ll make it that way (plus it keeps my mind off the fact that this was my wedding anniversary) 😉
I’m just thankful we finally have some sunny weather! I actually do love rain (good thing here in the PNW), but we’ve had so much and for so long I was actually starting to feel a hankering for some good hot weather. Of course, I’ll be over it in a few days. Happy Summer / Solstice! ~A 🙂

I’m ready for sunshine. It was muggy and balmy and not really sunny today. But, lovely walking weather! ~W
I worked in my garden, and it was heavenly. Then I cleaned my house and made a kick-ass chicken salad for my parents and my sister. They came over for dinner, we sat on the porch and listened to the rain, poured the wine, and had a blast. Sort of. My mom’s losing it.

That sounds like an amazing day. Very fun. Not exactly embracing your “inner slacker”, however, I kinda expect that from all you hard working types. ~W

I went to work and class… not the best way to celebrate, but oh well. I did take some time out of the day to plan my vacation to Charleston, SC, so I’m putting the “Happy Summer” dance off a few weeks! (and Magdalene House would be such a wonderful place to do the practicum… I am so hoping it works out!)
Hummm. This first day of summer, I had to take a little walk with my fingers over to Anthropologie. And you know whose fault that is? Hummm? No, I actually didn’t buy YET, but I have my eye on a really cute red and white tea cup. Looks very summery, in fact. Looks like maybe something I should buy on the first day of summer, now that I think about it . . . .

Uh… let’s see… whose fault would it be that you’re hanging out on the Anthropologie website on this fine first day of summer…. hmmm… I can’t answer that on grounds that it will most definitely incriminate me. Happy shopping. 😀 ~W

I *love* the photos. You make Astoria look really cool. Of course, it is a neat little town – I think our trip up to the islands underscored how much I appreciate where we live.

That makes me laugh. I should do a “The Darker Side of Astoria” post with all the run down, vacant, and meth potential houses in the area. ~W
You’re inspiring! I think I’ll step out of the office at lunch, and try to shake off this little headache. The first day of summer has brought perfect temperatures to Sacramento this year.

I hope you made it out and your little headache is gone!! ~W
I must tell you that I’ve really enjoyed your blog for about a month or so. I even have you in my favorites! I live in the bay area (Berkeley to be exact) but work for an Italian Porcelain tile manufacturer and travel around the west coast a fair amount. Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting your fair city (for work)! Astoria is a wonderful town and I really enjoyed seeing this area of Oregon. That’s it, just wanted to say hi! Best, Jen

Thank you, Jennifer. It’s always great to hear from new readers! I’m glad you enjoyed our sleepy little town. And next time you wend your way here, let me know! 😀 ~W
I’ve been cooking for thousands. I love it. Lord, I wish I had a restaurant. On tonight’s menu: Southern Rice Pilau with chicken and snausage, caesar salad and fresh berries with cream and pecan shortbread (it’s still fresh from Wed.)
Did I ever tell you how much I just love you and coming over here? I don’t think so. I’m already looking forward to Sunday’s Sermon.

Good grief! With that menu, you SHOULD have a restaurant! I’d certainly eat there. Dang, now I’m hungry. ~W
P.S. Since I am the bad girl of commentors, Margaret probably thinks I am still thinking she quit blogging- but I know she didn’t, weeks ago. It’s just so embarrassing to admit that one has been lurking for days and days…without comment. I get myself in such messes.

You are aware, of course, that Margaret reads the comments on my blog? Right?? 😀 ~W
Well, I went to work…which is rather boring, lol! However, your pictures are really making me want to take a road trip to Astoria. It looks like a fun place to visit 🙂

I’ve never been to Oregon, but i’ve heard that some of the rural parts are beautiful at different times of the day. This is from my crazy aunt that goes out there all the time. You just don’t get that kind of thing in Albion, NY. It’s a suburban town with a gang problem.
The best thing is that you can see Lake Ontario from my house. It seems like Astoria is a nice, calm, settling community.
Me, my mom and dad, and my Aunt are going to take a road trip out to california at the end of the summer, maybe we’ll go through!

Thanks–but we’re still in school. So, I’ll just continue as is for a few days.
