I walked away from my computer this Friday and Saturday—well, my blog actually—because after the week I had the thought of it made my head ache. The details aren’t worth the words required. I will say this: sometimes the Internet feels like High School.

There’s a reason I dropped out of High School.

Last week found me in the middle of nonsense not of my making. You know it’s bad when you find that pouring yourself tea in perpetuity and singing emo lyrics can’t abate the growing knot in your stomach.

Hey, you know they’re all the same
You know you’re doing better on your own (on your own)
So don’t buy in.
Live right now
Yeah, just be yourself.
It doesn’t matter if it’s good enough
For someone else.

Yeah, that Jimmy Eat World rocks.

Sadly, some people graduate from High School in name only! There are moments when the cattiness and the clique mentality makes my head spin and I start questioning why I bother.

But the truth is, despite last week, good prevails on the Internet. For every ass out there with a blog there are 10 of you worth reading. So many more of you are choosing to make a difference. In my life and in the lives of others.

So, I took a bit of time to breathe. To get some space. To hang out with real people in real time and drink real wine.

And it helped.

Then Good prevailed again. Because it does… it cannot be held back by the bitter hearts of last week. I woke up Sunday morning to discover that Bug, in her witty way had done a lovely, lovely write up about Boy Wonder and his Bag Bag. When I asked her to mention his little venture to her readers I had NO idea. No idea whatsoever that she would come through so beautifully and with such care. I mean it, Bug, you rocked my Sunday and you made everything OK again.

Here’s the thing… sometimes, you have to walk away to gain perspective. Sometimes, you have to open a bottle of cheap wine and laugh yourself into a reality check. And sometimes, you have to sing emo lyrics until the Universe notices your lament and responds.

Consider it a kind of worship.

It just takes some time
Little girl you’re in the middle of the ride
Everything, everything will be just fine
Everything, everything will be alright
