Shelter

Feast your eyes on our sweet Gingerbread house.

It’s quite likely to be our dinner if the power does not hold. The weather is a hungry wolf, huffing and puffing with all her might. She wants in to feast and we feel her angry breath whipping through poorly insulated walls and ancient windows. Like most of our neighbors, we won’t know until tomorrow morning how much of our little house will be left standing.

Until then, please say a prayer for all us out here on the coast. We are braced for the worst and hoping for the best. We are thankful to at least have shelter (and a working wood stove) on such a day as this…and we are mindful of all those who are not so fortunate.

Angry indeed! And if the gingerbread house must be sacrificed - so be it. I just hope that the REAL house isn’t made out of gingerbread and has more strength and fortitude to survive the weather wolf… every time the wind blows hard I just remind myself that the old girl has been here since the 1920’s and that is saying something…

Even though it is cute as a button, I don’t think it will survive the storm. I suggest you dind harbor inside something wooden.

The house is wonderful! It brings back many special memories. Take care, dear. We are starting to get the wind now, and our power has flickered and almost died many times. (we NEVER have power issues, so this really could be a bad one)

There were moments when I wondered if we were going to be standing in the morning.  There are people projected to be w/o power until Sunday.  ~W

That sounds like some weather you’re having! It was unseasonably warm in our area today, we actually had to turn the heat off and open some windows. I hope the power held and your gingerbread house looks AWESOME! I’ve always wanted to make one of those.

100 mph wind gusts.  It was simply amazing.  We are fortunate that more damage wasn’t done! As for the gingerbread… we cheated and bought a kit.  But the fun part is decorating and I didn’t want to futz with the baking! :) !W

Aw shoot. I forgot, we have to build the gingerbread house, probably Wednesday.

And I just got the house cleaned after this weekend…

Yours looks great. How much is left?

Actually, we’ve not cracked into yet! We keep meaning to, tho. The Costco brand (although I was at Safeway tonight and there was one kit left) kit ROCKS if you choose not to make it from scratch. Super easy and lots of candy plus extra cookies for smaller hands to decorate! :D
